Pearlann PorterPearlann Porter [Founding Artistic Director]

Now directing her 9th season, Pearlann's work with The Pillow Project has been committed to developing her original concept of creating a 'postmodern-jazz' philosophy in dance while iginiting a new idea of jazz-physicality in Pittsburgh and internationally. Pearlann graduated from Point Park University in 1999 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance and is presently on faculty at her alma mater teaching her methods of postmodern-jazz. In the past decade, Pearlann has created original work for Dance Alloy Theater, The August Wilson Dance Ensemble, LABCO Dance, Point Park University, The University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Slippery Rock University, Xpressions Contemporary Dance Company and Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh. She has also been a teacher and consulting artist for The Father Ryan Arts Center in Mckees Rocks, PA for the past 7 years. Recently, Pearlann was named one of Dance Magazine's '25 To Watch in 2010' and is currently writing a book on physical jazz.


Brent Luebbert Brent Luebbert [Resident Performing Artist]

Brent been working with the Pillow Project since November 2009. Brent is currently a senior at Point Park University and will graduate in May with a BFA in dance. Brent has performed at Point Park in works by Doug Bentz, Doug Varone and Toru Shimazaki. Before attending college Brent was an apprentice with Bodyvox, having performed with the main company and toured with the outreach program to elementary and middle schools throughout Oregon and southern Washington.

Rebekah Kuczma Rebekah Kuczma [Resident Performing Artist]

Rebekah is a Pittsburgh native and has performed at Women Rock, Dance Africa, and the NewMoves Contemporary Dance Festival. She started her professional career as a founding member of The August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble where she performed in works by Christopher Huggins, Greer Reed, Crystal Fraizer, and Kaylin Horgan. Rebekah has been a member of the Pillow Project since July of 2010.

Zeke Stewart Zëke Stewart [Resident Performing Artist]

Zëk has a background in dance and musical theater and has recently joined The Pillow Project as their newest resident performing artist in January 2012. When he isn't dancing, Zëk is working to apply the theories and practices of Dadaism, Futurism, Theater of Cruelty, theoretical physics and postmodern-jazz to creating new works of musical theatre. He does not have a wife, nor does he live with her and their two dogs in a small cottage in Maine.

Mike Cooper Mike Cooper [Technical Designer & Luminographer]

In 2005, shortly after receiving his degree in Visual Effects, Mike Cooper tore himself away from an exciting career with Panera Bread to join the Pillow Project's burgeoning video department, and has been working with the company ever since. In addition to coordinating all of Pillow’s technical design and logistics, Mike is very excited to be developing Luminography, a brand-new video projection methodology that is totally improvisational and uses no pre-rendered footage or effects. His mother still doesn’t understand what he does.
